About the Mid-MO

Homestead Expo

Join us to share rural skills, grow your own food, and live a more self-sufficient life. Together, we are building stronger families and stronger communities.

A Grassroots Gathering

The Mid-MO Homestead Expo started as a simple idea: bring speakers, vendors, and community members together in one place to share skills and support sustainable living. What began as a small, grassroots gathering has grown into one of Missouri's most loved homesteading events, now in its 4th year and drawing over 1,200 attendees. People travel from across the country to be here, but the heart of this event has always been serving the local and regional community.

This is not a trade show. There are no polished corporate booths or passive browsing. This is a hands-on, education-first event where you can talk directly with growers, makers, and educators who are actively living the work they teach. Whether you are brand new to homesteading or have been at it for years, there is something here for you.

General admission is free because we believe this kind of knowledge should be available to everyone. Skills like growing food, preserving it, raising animals, and living more self-sufficiently build stronger families and stronger communities. That is worth protecting.

Meet the Organizers

Portrait of Anne Trokey

Anne Trokey

Anne is a second-generation farmer, homeschool mom, and one of the driving forces behind the Mid-MO Homestead Expo. She manages booths at several local farmers markets, sits on several market boards, and is deeply involved in all aspects of her family farm. Anne brings real, working knowledge of agriculture and local food systems to everything she does. Her roots in community farming are woven into the fabric of this event.

Portrait of Melissa Sisk

Melissa Sisk

Melissa came to homesteading early. Her parents embraced the back-to-the-land movement in the 1980s, and that spark never left her. Today she is part of the homesteading and homeschooling community with a focus on foraging and gardening. She also represents the Foraging Academy at the expo. Melissa is passionate about teaching others how to connect with the natural world and find the resources already around them.
